The factory without a chimney

Our sustainable onion dehydration factory ensures efficiency, quality, and environmental responsibility while making dehydrated onions, all powered by heatpumps and solar energy. This results in:

  • 89% lower CO2 emission compared to a conventional dehydration factory
  • saving 67% of water by efficiency in water use and prevention of water scarcity through a circular water system
  • guaranteed high-quality and food-safe ingredients verified by third-party certifications
  • processing capacity of 6,000 tonnes per year with a possibility to increase

Innovative drying process

Nedspice is committed to improve the spice industry in a sustainable way. We created a dehydration factory that operates sustainably and thereby contributes to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, whilst producing tasteful ingredients of the highest quality. The dryer is provided with warm and cold air by a heat-pump. It heats up to max 87ºC and the heat is continuously reused. Even the heat from the ventilation system is captured and added to the heat required for the drying process. This highly efficient process results in very low CO2 emissions

Through our innovative drying process, we reduce our CO2 emission by 89% compared to traditional dehydration factories.

The onions are dried at low temprature which enables a more homogenously coloured dehydrated product. During the dehydration process the raw ingredients are pasteurized, this ensures a food safe and finished product that is ready to eat. We can produce our dehydrated products with varying microbiological grades, from standard to extra low bacterial grade. Nedspice is currently the only one who can offer dehydrated onions by using an inhouse natural proprietary process.

We can provide dehydrated onion as kibbled, chopped, minced, granulated, or powdered.

Behind every onion is a great farmer

The Nedspice Farmer Partnership Programme (NFPP) was built on a simple idea: sustainable spicing starts at the source.

Through NFPP, we work directly with onion farmers in India, helping them adopt more sustainable and economically viable farming practices. The result: FSA-certified onions from a 1000+ farmers, traceable all the way back to the field. This number is growing every year.
